5 positions
There are five main positions (how the feet are arranged) in ballet. All of these are considered turned out or rotating the leg so that the knees and toes face out ward.
First position
Stand with heels together and toes facing outward.
Second Position
Stand with the heels about 1-1.5 feet apart and toes facing outward.
Third Position
Stand with one heel at the arch of the other foot and the toes facing outward.
Fourth Position
Stand with one foot about 1 foot in front of the other with the toes facing outward.
Fifth Position
Stand with one heel at the other foot's toes and toes facing outward.
