Advanced Jazz Leaps
These jazz leaps are for more advanced students who have been taking dance for at least 10 or 11 years.
Firebird Leap
A leap where the back leg is bent a reached up toward the head. The body should also be arched back.
Baryshnikov
A leap where the front leg is straight and the back is bent in attitude.
Around the World
A two step turn followed by and immediate toe touch.
Switch Leap
A leap where one leg goes in front and then while still in the air the front leg and the back leg switch.
Reverse Leap
You run as if you were going into a regular leap, but switch the direction of the body so the front leg becomes the back and the back becomes the front.
Side Leap
A toe touch raising one leg at a time and hitting a side split in the air.
